Fly away, feet, fly away —
You are not meant to walk the ground,
Not meant to take root here—
To become a sad monolith, unmoving, unfeeling.
Fly away, feet, fly away —
It is not your destiny to surrender desires,
Nor your fate to smother your dreams’ quiet fires.
It is not your calling to walk in a straight line,
To tread the tired path a million walked before,
Blindly trailed by billions more.
Fly away, feet, fly away —
Don’t look at the world you leave behind.
Do not lament what has passed.
Don’t grieve what cannot be changed.
Don’t drag your weary heart to doom.
Don’t shrink into sadness and gloom—
A skeleton with vacant eyes,
A heart that stopped beating long ago—hollow inside.
Fly away, feet, fly away —
Fix your eyes on the widening sky.
Into wind, into wonder, into all that’s yet to be.
Leave behind the dust and shadows,
Chase the sun across the skies.
Fly away, feet, fly away —
And let the soul follow.

This is stunning. I deeply relate to the urge to break free from the “tired path” everyone expects us to walk. It perfectly captures that longing to leave the heavy stuff behind and just chase the sky. A beautiful reminder to keep moving forward.
